Don Wittekind is an assistant professor in the visual communication sequence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before making the move to teaching, Wittekind spent 10 years as informational graphics director at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, where he led the creation of the first newspaper-based multimedia graphics department. Under his direction, the Sun-Sentinel created its first interactive project in December of 1996 and continued as an interactive industry leader throughout his tenure. Wittekind’s work has won with top honors from the Newspaper Association of America, Editor & Publisher, the Online News Association and the SND.ies. Wittekind also teaches SND’s popular Multimedia Quickcourse, which he co-founded in 2001, and is The Society for News Design's Director of Multimedia Training.
